Sarees are one of the most common work attire in the country of India. If you are a resident of India, you would see thousands of women wearing sarees every day. The reason for that is because sarees have originated from the Indian tradition many years ago, and have remained a favorite till the day. People in almost all states have an idea of how to wear a saree or what it is. Saree is a long cloth, which can be made out of a number of fabrics, like cotton synthetic and nylon, almost four to five yards long, draped in a particular fashion over a woman’s body. They have various types of designs and patterns embedded in them. Sarees are adorned with either broad or narrow borders, depending on their style. As one of the most popular garments that people in India like to wear, sarees also come with a number of other garments that are generally worn along with it. Sarees are normally worn with blouses and petticoats of various types and forms, without which the whole look would not only be incomplete but also be obscene.

WHAT IS A BLOUSE?

A blouse is an upper garment that is worn before you wear a saree. It generally resembles a shirt, but is much shorter in length and is traditional. They are worn to cover up the upper part of a woman’s body, basically the chested area in a firm affirmative way, so that it can keep the saree in its place. In older days, women used to wear sarees without wearing any type of blouse beneath them. Blouses have even existed in western culture and you would still find them today. They weren’t such a hit before the twentieth century but have remained a popular garment since then. They can be differentiated depending on their sleeve length, neck design, and other embroidery etched upon them along with other designs.

They are worn according to the occasion. Sometimes, blouses are chosen based on the weather. If it is generally hot and sultry weather, sleeveless blouses are worn. Based on occasions, blouses that have heavy metalwork and embroidery and are made up of classy and beautiful fabric are chosen. Also, the color combination and the fabric are generally matched with the saree that the person is going to wear. All in all, one can easily say that blouses are a great and important part of the whole garment.

WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS NECK DESIGNS BASED ON A SAREE?

There are various neck designs that you can generally find on a blouse. They are:

1. THE SHEER BACK BLOUSE: The sheer back blouse has been up in the trend nowadays. People tend to wear this kind of blouse on various occasions. The specialty of a sheer blouse is the material it is made up of. Sheer blouses are made from transparent materials. The most obvious choices for such materials are georgette and net-like fabric. As the blouse back is transparent, people can see your back covered in a sheath of the net. There is normally work done on them. Along with that, it is important to remember that the blouse should be made from strong net and georgette fabric because there lies a risk that it might not hold up if it isn’t. The length of this kind of blouse is generally till the middle of the back. It looks great when paired with modern sarees but generally looks hideous when worn with benarasi or sarees that have any type of heavy metalwork.

Also, women who have back fat are recommended to not go for these kinds of sarees.

2. THE V-NECK BLOUSE: The V-neck blouse is one of the most common types of neck designs that you can normally find in a blouse. Most women in India wear this kind of blouse almost every day of their lives. As the name suggests, the back of the blouse is V in its shape. They are normally paired with sarees that don’t have too large or shiny appeal, but rather a regular look. These kinds of blouses are generally slimming in their design; therefore, they look flaunting on women who generally have large shoulders. The slit design, as the name suggests, has a slot on the backside of the blouse. The slit is cut depending upon the length you want it to be. If you are getting ready for some sort of party, to give a raw sensuous look the slit can belong right across the back in a vertical way, whereas for any type of office work, you can keep it small and petite.

4. BOAT NECKLINE BLOUSE DESIGN: The boat neckline blouse design is one of the favorites of the time. The reason for that is the boat cut design. The torso or the neck of the blouse is cut in a certain way, that is long and drawn in the shape of a boat. When it comes to fabric, any type of fabric can be generally used to build this kind of blouse. The most preferred fabric is the georgette fabric. Because the back of the body is almost completely exposed, it is preferred for women who have a moderate backside.

6. THE CLASSIC STRING LESS NECK DESIGN: The previous design of a blouse had a string attached to the backside of it. This is a type of blouse which is almost of the same design, but the back is not exposed as the previous one. Instead, the back is covered with the blouse and it can have any sort of neckline depending upon the shape of your shoulders. You can also choose how deep you want the cut to be. For the neckline, the V-neckline is preferred for women who have a broad shoulder, whereas a round neckline is preferred for women with slimmer backsides. This kind of blouse design is modest and looks great if worn on regular days and less important or flashy occasions.

7. HALTER NECK DESIGN: The halter neck design blouse is extremely sensuous and western in its design. The cut of the blouse generally comes from the above, and like an hourglass slims down towards the middle and then spreads again towards the end. This type of blouse exposes most of your back, your underarms, and your shoulders. In the front, you can choose to have any type of neckline that you may want, whether it be a V-cut neckline or a round one.
